For the second year running, Port Macquarie
rider Jacqui Jones has won the NSW leg of the Honda Girls on the
Gas Competition and in doing so will get to defend her 2007 National
crown next weekend in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria.
With the Port Macquarie Motocross club playing host under perfect
weather and track conditions, the BCP Honda rider proved unstoppable
on the day, winning both of the 'On Bike' Categories, while scoring
another victory in the public speaking module and a solid third
in the fitness sector.
"I'm really happy to now get to defend my title this weekend
down in Victoria," said Jones.
"I'm disappointed with the fitness sector though as that is
normally one of my strongest categories.
I've had an ear infection for a while now and the medication wasn't
making me feel the best."
Second overall for NSW was Ashleigh Blenkiron with a 3rd fastest
lap time, 3rd also in the 'on bike' technique and Public Speaking
sectors and a stunning equal first in the fitness test.
Third place went to young 12 year old Tayla Joneswho blew us all
away with the second fastest lap time only to Jacqui Jones. Tayla
finished second also in the 'on bike' technique, while finishing
equal first with Blenkiron in the Fitness category. The public speaking
sector being the only category preventing the young 12 year old
from challenging our eventual winner Jacqui Jones for the overall.
The big 'Final Showdown' will be held this Sunday the 2nd November
at Victorias Bacchus Marsh circuit just 45 minutes west of Melbourne
where all seven state winners will go head to head in the four point
scoring categories.
