Title:

Miedecke nominates Clipsal points

Bob Middleton, Team Owner of the Touring Car Masters’ round one winner, Andrew Miedecke, has nominated the Clipsal event as Miedecke’s dropped round due to an engine anomaly.

Each competitor in the Touring Car Masters is required to drop their points from one of the eight championship rounds. This is generally at the completion of the season, with the lowest scoring round being excluded. In Miedecke’s case, round one will not be counted in his overall points tally.

Prior to the opening round of the season, the Technical and Sporting Regulations for the 2010 Touring Car Masters Series were issued by CAMS.

Following round one, Middleton advised the Touring Car Masters Board of Directors that, upon review of the issued Technical Regulations, the #95 WesTrac Cat Camaro entered by his team and piloted by Miedecke was not compliant for the first round.

On Middleton’s suggestion, and with accordance from the Touring Car Masters Board, the Clipsal round has been nominated as the dropped round for the #95 entry.

The Board of Directors is satisfied with the investigation conducted by Middleton and his team and applauds his sportsmanship.

While Miedecke remains the round one winner, dropping his points for the round elevates runner up, Jim Richards to the Group 1 championship points lead.

With every other competitor also required to drop a round this season, Miedecke is still firmly in contention for the 2010 title, but now requires a trouble free run for the remainder of the season.

The Touring Car Masters presented by Autobarn resumes on 14-16 May for round two at Winton Raceway (VIC).

DREW MARGET - Touring Car Masters, Technical Director:

“The honesty and sportsmanship of Bob Middleton and the Whiteline Racing Team is hugely commendable.

“Bob’s voluntary disclosure of his vehicle’s non-compliance truly exemplifies the spirit of the Touring Car Masters; the sportsmanship and camaraderie that make this series so unique.

“The Board thanks him for being so forthcoming in this matter and is satisfied with the outcome proposed by Bob and his team.”

The Touring Car Masters is proudly presented by Autobarn, and supported by Biante Model Cars, Shannons Insurance, Rare Spares and official suppliers Hoosier Tires and Australian Sports Marketing.
